How to Write a SaaS Onboarding Plan

Most early SaaS churn doesn't happen because the product is wrong for the customer — it happens because nobody gave them a clear plan for the first week, and momentum from the sale evaporates before setup is finished.

Setup steps, in order, not just a feature tour

A new customer needs to know exactly what to do first, second, and third — not a tour of everything the product can do. Sequence matters more than completeness at this stage.

A real timeline, not "as soon as possible"

Vague urgency creates anxiety, not action. A concrete timeline — what happens by day one, week one, week two — gives a new customer a plan to follow instead of a vague expectation to worry about.

Name the support available, explicitly

Customers who don't know how to get help when they're stuck quietly disengage instead of asking. Stating exactly how to reach support removes the single most common early churn trigger.

Generate the plan instead of writing it fresh for every customer

The Implementation & Onboarding Plan template generates this exact structure — setup steps, timeline, and support — from your product's real onboarding process. Open it in FLYNT Docs the next time a new customer signs on.
